Mara Fleder
Mara Fleder is a founding partner of Wertheimer Fleder LLP. She is a seasoned trial attorney with expertise in family defense, civil rights, and government misconduct cases. Mara has spent her career fighting for parents and individuals harmed by ACS, DSS, and other government agencies.
Before co-founding the firm, Mara worked with Joel as an associate at Wertheimer LLC bringing civil rights cases on behalf of clients who were victims of excessive force, wrongfully separated from their children, who were mistreated by their employers, and falsely arrested. Mara joined Wertheimer LLC after spending ten years at the Bronx Defenders, where she was a supervising attorney in the Family Defense Practice.
Earlier in her career, Mara served as a clinical instructor at Cardozo Law School’s Family Defense Clinic and began her practice as a Skadden Fellow. Her work is grounded in a trauma-informed approach and a fierce commitment to keeping families together.
